A George III mahogany striking bracket clock, circa 1790
The case with brass handle to a breakarch top, brass silk-backed fishscale sound frets to the sides, pierced frets to the rear door, with brass-lined front door and front angles, on brass bracket feet, the silvered and engraved Roman and Arabic dial (replaced?), signed in the arch Wm. Jordan CHESHAM, pierced black-painted hands, the twin wire fusee movement with anchor escapement and rectangular plates, strike on bell -- 15½in. (39.5cm.) high to hilt of handle
