The case with fretwork cresting to a swan neck pediment centred by a brass ball and spire finial, dentil cornice mouldings, the outset fluted columns with brass Corinthian capitals, the arched trunk door with bell flower inlays and flanked by fluted three quarter columns, on plain plinth with wavy apron, the 16in. high white painted oval dial painted with a scene of a lady seated beside a lake and with sprays of roses, the Roman and Arabic chapter ring with dot minute track, signed along the lower edge Clem. Gowland SUNDERLAND, with subsidiary seconds and date rings, gilt-brass hands, with false plate stamped WILSON to the four pillar rack striking movement with bell -- 97½in. (247cm.) high
