MOVIOLA FRAME COUNTER MACHINE USED FOR ORIGINAL PRODUCTION
1939
A vintage Moviola-brand frame counter machine used during the original 1939 production of "GWTW." Created to count each frame of film for later sound synchronization, this piece was affixed to a wooden base and converted into an award for Irv Stimler who worked at MGM in the 1960s and who helped market one of the re-releases of "GWTW." A metal plaque on its base reads Presented to Irv Stimler Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Marketing Award Re-Release 1969 Gone With The Wind Frame Counter #20171 Used in Original Production 1938 [sic]. (The incorrect year was likely a typo or misinformation given to the engraver.)
11x11x11 inches
This piece was consigned directly by Mr. Irv Stimler.
