'FINAL' SCRIPT
1939
A two-hundred and thirty-five page script with a goldenrod cover having a typed title of Selznick International presents "Gone With The Wind" from the novel by Margaret Mitchell, a typed disclaimer of This script is Final as to general continuity, sets, and cast. It is over-length and Temporary as to dialogue; also temporary as to business, camera angles, etc... and a date of January 16, 1939. Sidney Howard and Oliver H.P. Garrett are given screenplay credit, David O. Selznick is listed as producer and George Cukor is listed as director. This particular script was likely another copy used by Harry Davenport as many of Dr. Meade's lines have pencil marks next to them. Though a few pages are missing from this script, the ending is still intact which has Mammy, instead of Scarlett, having the last word when she says He'll come back. D'in Ah say de last time? He'll do it agin. Ah knows -- Ah always knows.
