MARGARET MITCHELL SCRAPBOOK COMPILED BY HER SISTER-IN-LAW
1950s-1970s
A scrapbook compiled by Francesca Marsh detailing the life of her famous sister-in-law, Margaret Mitchell. Over fifty pages, this book is filled with newspaper articles mainly from the 1950s-1970s, programs, a page of MM one-cent stamps and the 1936 pamphlet titled 'Margaret Mitchell and Her Novel' among other items. Also included are almost forty original print black and white photographs of MM and her family members, many of which are quite rare including a darling one of a toddler-aged MM holding a kitten (like Bonnie Blue does in the film). A partial typed letter dated March 22/36 which MM's husband, John, wrote to his mother is also part of the collection and relates witty anecdotes such as the dirty Yankee trick of Macmillan forcing MM to sign copies of GWTW to help boost its sale and to prevent the book from being a complete flop -- obviously a concern Macmillian didn't need to have since GWTW was an instant bestseller the second it hit the bookstores.
