The simulated-marble moulded top centred by a roundel depicting Venus and Cupid, on moulded scrolled splayed legs joined by a concave-sided undertier centred by a pierced patera, on scroll feet, the base redecorated and the stretcher possibly a replacement

Lot Essay

The table, with its Grecian-scrolled pilasters and Grecian-black japanning, has a medallion top displaying a vignette of Cupid attending the bath of Venus. The figure derives from the Uffizi Gallery's celebrated 'Crouching Venus'.
