A design for a large 'circular' cellaret sideboard, dated 1788, is illustrated in Thomas Shearer's The Cabinet-Maker's London Book of Prices, 1793 and features contrasting timbers on the doors and drawers. A pair of sideboards close to the latter's design was offered anonymously, Sotheby's New York, 16-17 April 1993, lot 652. A similar, large demi-lune sideboard was sold anonymously (by descent with the Rouse Boughton family, Downton Hall, Shropshire) in these Rooms, 14 September 2000, lot 31 (£12,925).
