Eifelrennen 1933 - A large silver two-handled punchbowl trophy
for the event, awarded to the winner on the famous Nordschlieffe Circuit presented by Air Marshall Goering, the former first world war fighter pilot; art-deco styling with 'pearl-string' decoration to top and base, engraved and inscribed "1933 - XI Internationales Eifelrennen - Nurburgring" and with engraved signature Hermann Goering. Continental silver markings and stamps; length 20ins (50cm) width 8ins (20cm)

Lot Essay

This event was won by the great Tazio Nuvolari driving an Alfa Romeo Monza, winning by six minutes from Manfred von Brauchitsch's Mercedes SSK and Piero Taruffi in another Alfa Romeo. The actual race length being 342 kilometers with the winner's average speed at 118kph over the three hours duration.
