Late Ming dynasty, 16th-17th century
Each of drum form, the sides painted in bright tones of underglaze blue with a broad frieze of two pairs of peacocks in a garden setting, the two scenes separated by two lion-mask handles molded in high relief, all between rows of raised bosses and a band of waves and rocks below and a foliate-decorated ruyi collar above, the slightly domed top decorated with playful Buddhistic lions encircling a pierced cash motif
