WEDDING PRESENT, JULY 1890
A Victorian silver salver, the shaped beaded rim with stiff leaf motifs at intervals, the centre engraved with foliate bands around an inscription 'Presented to Miss Dorothy Tennant by the Tenants Lessees & Workmen of the Tennant Estate, upon the occasion of her Marriage to H.M. Stanley Esq. July 12th 1890', on three foliate feet, maker's mark of Henry Atkin, Sheffield, 1884, 15¼in. (38.8cm.) diam., 36oz. (1,146gr.) together with the accompanying honorary address from the lessees, tenants and workmen noting the gilt of a salver and a bowl, bound in elaborate panelled calf.
The Tennant family estates were at Cadoxton-juxta-Neath, Cilybebyll, Llansamlet, Llantwit-juxta-Neath, Neath and Swansea, Dorothy and Stanley first visited the family estates in 1891 on their return from America.
