STANLEY'S HONORARY ADDRESSES FROM BRITISH TOWNS
A group of 8 honorary addresses presented to Stanley in the 1890s, comprising: Borough of Neath to Henry Morton Stanley Esqre, 2°, 4pp., the address in ink and watercolour with printed borders on paper set in thick paper mounts, signed and dated 23rd April 1891, with seal, elaborately bound in crimson morocco panelled in gilt, with central gilt stamp of the arms of Neath (some scuffing); Borough of Berwick-upon-Tweed, To Henry Morton Stanley Esq, 2°, 6pp., the address in ink and watercolour within printed borders on vellum, signed and dated 18 June 1890, with red wax seal, elaborately bound in red morocco gilt, the upper cover applied with gilt metal HMS monogram set within oval velvet recess, the address honouring Stanley's 'brilliant and successful enterprise to rescue Emin Pacha'; together with 6 further addresses, 5 of them framed, from the towns of Dover, Oxford (dated 24 June 1890), the tennants of the Haddo House Estates, Aberdeen, the Baptist Missionary Society and the Tyneside Geographical Society.
