Based on lectures at the University of Berlin, these five volumes "cover the whole range of what is now known as classical physics... At the same time they constitute a bridge and an introduction to the later developments such as the quantum theory of radiation, in the creation of which Prof. Planck has played the pioneer part" (dust jacket).
