A KASHAN LUSTRE POTTERY BOTTLE
Central Iran, early 13th century
With drop-shaped body on short foot rising to a tubular neck with flaring rim below the slightly conical mouth, the body painted over the glaze with golden lustre depicting a band of horsemen together with a seated figure around the shoulder divided by chequered trees, a band of naskh inscription above and stylised kufic above that, the underside with simple arabesque panels, the neck with simple geometric motifs, the mouth with plain stripes, repaired clean breaks around body and neck, good glaze, very slight iridescence on underside
