Circa 1790-1792, blue crown above Flight and crescent mark
Painted en grisaille by John Pennington with an allegorical female figure emblematic of Hope, seated by a seashore, a ship in the distance, within a blue-line circular panel radiating gilt diamond pattern and pendant leaf ornament, the blue-ground border gilt with stars and dots and flutes divided by paterae within a shaped rim (some light rubbing to the well and light scratches)
9¾ in. (24.7 cm.) diam.
