AN URARTIAN BRONZE BELT
CIRCA LATE 8TH/EARLY 7TH CENTURY B.C.
Decorated in chased low relief with a hunting scene, the rectangular terminal panel with an archer atop a feline taking aim with bow and arrow, a winged sun-disc above, with a dotted, palmette, ribbed and guilloche border, the broad belt panel with three registers of archers wearing conical helmets, surmounting galloping griffins, horses and felines, with columns of sirens, winged sphinxes and fleeing lions, divided by petalled rosettes and squares of circles and palmettes, with dotted guilloche borders, pierced along the edges for lining attachment, with riveted ancient repairs, some restoration
