A NORTH-WEST PERSIAN BRONZE SHIELD TONDO
EARLY 1ST MILLENNIUM B.C.
Convex in shape with raised conoid knop in the centre, with decorative openwork border of paired volutes, ornamented with concentric bands of embossed geometric motifs with impressed dotted outlines, the volutes with similar decoration and outlined by twin rows of raised dots, four pairs of pierced attachment holes, repaired with slight restoration
14¼ in. (36.2 cm.) diam.
