Lot Essay

The sitters married in 1727; he was the son of Johan van Nispen and Maria van Nispen, née van der Gracht, she was the daughter of Samuel Cabeljau and Anna Cabeljau, née Ruyll. The grandaughter of the sitters, Johanna van Nispen (1771-1854) married Lodewijk van Toulon (1767-1840) in 1791 (for his parents see lot 46). Their son, Lodewijk Johan (1822-1901), called himself van Toulon van der Koog.
