Lot Essay

Little is know of the sitter, who married Martha Kinnema van Glinstra (b. 1764). Geertruida Johanna de Swart, the daughter of the sitter, married David George Wijndels (+ 1851). Their daughter, Martha Kinnema Wijndels (1824-1870), married Lodewijk Johan van Toulon van der Koog (1822-1901) in 1849 (Nederland's Patriciaat, 1916, p. 225). The present lot must have entered the collection through their marriage.
