Lot Essay

A jardinière of the same form, but smaller in size and decorated with Daoist immortals in doucai palette from the National Palace Museum, is illustrated in Enamelled Ware of the Ch'ing Dynasty, book I, Hong Kong, 1969, p.48. Compare another smaller famille verte octagonal-shaped jardinière, also from the National Palace Museum, illustrated in A Survey of Chinese Ceramics: Ch'ing Official and Popular Wares, Taipei, 1991, p.51.
