Mid 17th Century, the silver with maker's mark indistinct, the Netherlands, 1857 (also struck with retailer's mark P de Meyer te 's Hage.)
The cylindrical sides decorated with a continuous rocky landscape depicting a fisherman adressing a sage pointing in the direction of a pavilion behind him, the slightly flaring base encircled by a petal border above a similarly shaped silver mount, the domed cover incised with a foliate guirland and connected to the handle with a thumb-piece modelled as the bust of a woman, glaze frits
