A Raku Chaire [Tea Caddy]
Known as Misagi, Edo Period (Early 18th Century)
Of tall cylindrical form with slightly tapering sides and a short neck, the upper half covered with a reddish glaze, the lower half with traces of a red lacquer inscription, fitted box with two silk brocade wrappers, the box inscribed to the effect that the chaire was named Misagi by Joshinsai (1705-1751)
