Edo and Meiji Periods (18th and 19th Century)
The first almost cylindrical, with square narrow shoulder and short neck, the reddish brown body covered in variegated black and olive glaze stopping near the foot, turned ivory lid; the second the body almost cylindrical with slightly inward-leaning sides rising to a narrow shoulder with a very short neck, two turned grooves around the sides, the dark body covered in a slightly iridescent variegated brown-black glaze falling to the foot in one place, turned ivory lid; the third with squat body narrowing to a short vertical neck, the coarse stoneware body covered around the neck with a thick blue green glaze falling around the sides in places, the sides with stylised motifs in iron brown, turned ivory lid
