Lot Essay

Charles-Philippe of Bourbon (1757-1836), youngest brother of Kings Louis XVI and Louis XVIII of France, was first called comte d'Artois, and after 1815 'Monsieur' until his accession in 1824 as King Charles X. In 1830, he was obliged to abdicate.
