Rectangular flattened box with rounded corners, the cover inset with a cartouche-shaped enamel plaque finely painted with the bay of Naples seen from Mergellina, with the Castel dell'Ovo and smoking Vesuvius in the background, within a gold frame cast with scrolling foliage and strapwork, surrounded by cast raised flowers, shells and engraved diaperwork, the four sides engraved with scrolls, foliage and flowers, the base engine-turned with a pattern of chevrons and grapes, centred by a burnished gold tambourine tied with a wreath of flowers, framed by a band of engine-turned reeding engraved with leaves alternating with tulips, with gadrooned raised rim
