THE ORDER OF SERVICE USED AT THE WEDDING OF THE DUKE AND DUCHESS OF WINDSOR

Edward and Wallis were married by the Reverend R. Anderson Jardine, Vicar of St Paul's, Darlington, at the Chateau de Candé in Touraine, the property of Charles Bedaux. Those present were Edward ('Fruity') Metcalfe, the Duke's A.D.C., as best man, Lady Metcalfe, Charles Bedaux, Walter Monckton and George Allen (the Duke's legal advisers), Bessie Merryman (Wallis's aunt from Washington), Lady Selby (wife of the British ambassador to Vienna), Hugh Lloyd Thomas (the Duke's private secretary), Randolph Churchill, Lady Diana Cooper, Eugene and Kitty de Rothschild, Dudley Forwood (the Duke's equerry) and Herman Rogers (who gave Wallis away) with his wife Katherine. Cecil Beaton was the official photographer.
