E. Guillaumot, text within gold-ruled borders. (A few leaves very lightly browned). Finely-bound in contemporary crushed tan morocco gilt by Hardy, covers with wide dentelle border of floral and bird tools enclosing the arms of the 12th Duke of Hamilton, spine gilt in compartments, red and green morocco lettering-pieces, gilt edges. (A few small ink spots to upper cover).

Brunet I, 1705. The drawings, which are unsigned but skilfully-executed, may have been the originals for the 5 steel-engraved plates which Brunet records in the editions on paper. In the Supplément, Brunet mentions a copy on vellum with five original sepia designs and gold line borders, sold by the publisher for 660F in 1865. The present copy is similar to it, except for the fact that the coat-of-arms of Madame de Caylus are not on the title page.
