A Louis XV rosewood, kingwood, tulipwood crossbanded ormolu mounted petit commode

Surmounted by a moulded marble serpentine top and containing two drawers applied with rococo cartouche, key plate and scroll handles with projecting angles applied with trailing ornament to slender splayed legs, with renewal, and restoration, the back of the marble and top of the commode painted V20, stamped MACRET and JME
31¾in. (80.5cm.) wide, 18in. (46cm.) deep, 33in. (84cm.) high

Lot Essay

Pierre Macret (1727 - 1796) maitre 1758
The painted V20 although similar to 18th Century inventory marks is not recorded and may be later.
