A 19th-Century lacquered-brass and black enamelled compound monocular microscope,
signed on the body-tube VOIGTLAENDER BRAUNSCHWEIG No 50480, with rack and pinion, draw-tube and micrometer focusing, double nosepiece, U-shaped stage, substage condensor and diaphragm with rack and pinion vertical adjustment, plano-concave substage mirror and a Y-shaped foot, with one eyepiece and two Beck objectives, in a mahogany carrying case with seven drawers with bone pulls, containing mostly unused glass slides and some condenser accessories, the inside of the door with a fine trade label for JOHN B.
