A large Meissen baluster ewer emblematic of Air
Circa 1880, blue crossed swords mark, incised No: 327., painter's red 26.
Of oval section, the helmet-shaped neck moulded with brightly coloured feathers and applied with two winged putti frolicking among clouds, one with a basoon, the other playing the bagpipes, a large billowing blue drape forming the handle, a winged putto blowing wind at the lower terminal, the waisted neck with scattered insects in flight, the body painted to simulate the sky, the front moulded with birds in flight and a large peacock at rest beneath Juno, the waisted foot spirally-moulded with feathers between two broad gilt bands and applied with a winged putti holding a bird (some damages, losses and restorations)
