A GREEK TERRACOTTA RELIEF
Locri Epizephirii, Classical Period, Circa 470 B.C.
The once rectangular plaque molded with Persephone seated at the left, wearing a himation pulled up over the back of her head, its smooth texture and sparse curving folds contrasting with the crinkly pleats of her chiton below, her left hand originally pulling the edge of the himation forward, her hair bound in a fillet, combed smooth over the crown of the head, with rows of dot curls along the forehead, wearing a circular earring and a plain necklace
