A CASED 14-BORE BELGIAN D.B. PERCUSSION SPORTING GUN
Circa 1850
With browned twist barrels (minor surface pitting, right barrel dented), case-hardened patent breeches scroll engraved at the centre within a gold border, scroll engraved shaped case-hardened tang with gold border and a finely engraved vignette of a dog's head, case-hardened locks with gold borders and stepped tails, one decorated with a stag and hinds and the other with two hounds in pursuit of a stag, each in a landscape, finely figured walnut half-stock (scattered worming, fore-end repaired), scroll engraved iron mounts with gold borders including trigger-guard inlaid with a brass plaque engraved with the owner's initials 'F.D', iron sling mounts, original ramrod, and some original finish: in original lined and fitted brass-bound rosewood-veneered case with numerous accessories including original case-hardened ball mould and powder- and shot flasks, and combined cap dispenser and nipple primer, the lid with a brass plaque bearing the owner's initials 'F.D' (some stringing missing, minor damage to lining)
