AN 18-BORE SILVER-MOUNTED FLINTLOCK PISTOL
Signed Freeman, Strand, London, circa 1770
With slightly belled brass barrel signed within an engraved loop on the top flat of the breech and engraved with rococo foliage at the rear, engraved iron tang, signed bevelled lock engraved with rococo ornament (cock replaced), moulded figured walnut full stock inlaid at the barrel tang with a shell and scrollwork in silver wire, cast and chased mounts, pierced floral and foliate side-plate, engraved trigger-guard (repaired) with first pattern acorn finial, trophy of arms escutcheon, grotesque mask pommel, and iron-capped wooden ramrod, London proof marks
