With swamped two-stage barrel chamfered at the muzzle and with octagonal breech section stamped with a shield-shaped mark, and eagle displayed, and thrice with a maker's mark, 'IO' above three buds, flat lock with the same mark, and fitted with swivelling safety-catch, sliding pan-cover, engraved cock, and chamfered wheel-retaining bracket, full stock (fore-end tip replaced) profusely inlaid with white staghorn lines enclosing staghorn pellets and scrolls bearing plaques engraved with ball-flowers, ball pommel divided into five segments by staghorn bands engraved with ropework, iron trigger-guard with central baluster moulding, baluster trigger, and later horn-tipped ramrod
