An English mahogany and gilt-brass mounted longcase clock
The breakarch hood with ball and eagle finials, glazed side panels and outset brass stop-fluted columns, the trunk with breakarch door flanked by brass stop-fluted three-quarter columns with Composite capitals, above stepped plinth with quatreform panel, the 11¾in. square brass dial with ring and cup decoration to its edge and to the inside of the chapter and seconds rings, cherub and coronet spandrels to a silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with sword hilt half hour and lozenge half quarter hour markers, signed Jam Jordan Chatham, matted centre with subsidiary seconds ring, ringed winding holes and with engraving around the circular date aperture, minute hand lacking, the later applied arch with a silvered disc signed Jam Jordan/Chatham fecit, the four (formerly five) ringed pillar movement with anchor escapement and inside countwheel strike on bell; case circa 1775 with regilt mounts and associated to (adapted) dial and movement circa 1710 -- 86in.
