An English walnut and line inlaid longcase clock
The hood with fretwork panel to pagoda top, sound frets to the sides, with brass stop-fluted columns flanking the line-inlaid door, moulded frame to the cross-banded line-inlaid trunk door, later and shortened plinth with bracket feet, the 12in. wide brass dial with foliate spandrels to a silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring, matted centre with recessed subsidiary silvered seconds disc above recessed signature plaque terminating in a date aperture and signed William Wall/RICHMOND, blued steel hands, subsidiary silvered strike/silent ring in the arch, the five pillar movement with anchor escapement and with rack strike on later gong; movement and dial circa 1780 and associated to case, mid 18th century -- 92½in. (235cm.) high
