2o (435 x 282 mm). Mounted on guards throughout, half-title. Additional hand-colored lithographic title and 70 lithographic plates, including 56 hand-colored and one double-page as issue, by G. Severeyns after T.Bik, Blume, Gordon, Latour, van Raalten and A.J. Wendel. (Occasional offsetting). Later green half morocco and marbled boards, some wear to joints and corners). Provenance: Massachusetts Horticultural Society (bookplate; stamps).
FIRST EDITION, separate issue. A very attractive work on the orchids of the Malay Archipelago. This work was also issued simultaneously, with a Latin title, as a supplement to the author's Flora Javae. Great Flower Books p. 50; Nissen BBI 175; Stafleu & Cowan TL2 569.
