The case with beaded mouldings, the foliate engraved side panels set with portrait vignettes painted on one side with a young lady dressed with a muslin head scarf and with roses in her hair and around her neck, the other side painted with a boy in a blue top with lace collar and blond hair with ringlets, the dial with cream enamel chapter disc with blue and red Roman and Arabic chapters and blued steel distaff hands, signed J.E. Caldwell, Philadelphia, florally engraved gilt mask, the single barrel movement with bimetallic balance to silvered lever platform, the back plate numbered 1348
