A French brass and four-panelled porcelain-mounted striking carriage clock
No.1772. Circa 1870
The cannelee-style case with reeded handle and repeat button to the glazed top, the sides and rear door mounted with porcelain panels, one panel painted with a peasant girl working at a spinning loom within a garden, the other panel painted with a peasant girl resting by a water well with roses in the foreground, the rear door painted with a windmill, the dial with Roman chapter ring with blued spade hands and painted with a peasant girl resting in a field on some straw with a hen feeding beside her, the twin barrel movement with silvered platform to lever escapement with bimetallic balance, strike/repeat on a gong, the back plate numbered 1772
