The case veneered on pine, of lyre form with raised hollow-cornered panel to the plinth on bracket feet, flame-veneered door (now lacking hinges), hood with brass fishscale sound frets to the sides with ebony and boxwood chequer stringing, swan-neck pediment with carved rosette terminals, convex glazed brass bezel to the circular cream painted dial with Roman chapters and elaborate pierced brass hands, recessed subsidiary seconds and curved calendar aperture, later signature Recordon & Emery, London, the four pillar movement with anchor escapement and rack strike on a bell above the plates
