A Queen Anne gilt and faux tortoiseshell lacquered longcase clock

The case decorated overall with raised gilt and silvered chinoiserie figures in Chinese genre village scenes, the plinth on later stepped skirting, the trunk door with brass-framed circular lenticle, the hood with brass-capped columns supporting foliate pierced wood frets beneath the caddy top surmounted by brass ball-and-spire finials, the 12in. border-engraved dial with transitional shallow arch centred by an applied repoussé mount cast with a portrait bust (of Queen Anne?), the silvered chapter ring signed James Reith London, pierced blued steel hands, the well matted centre with subsidiary seconds ring and ringed winding holes and calendar aperture, well cast cherub and female mask spandrels, the movement with five ringed pillars (centre pillar latched), anchor escapement and rack strike on a bell above the plates
