A fine, crisp, large-format image of a resolute and determined Johnson, seated in an ornate chair, attired in suit, tie and waistcoat, one hand resting on a draped table to his left, against a painted background of books and curtains. Boldly signed "Andrew Johnson" in blank area at base of image, inscribed on verso "Presented by Andrew Johnson Nov. 27th 1867."This is the only cabinet-size portrait of Johnson which we have been able to trace. VERY RARE.
