A Shadow Box of the British Clipper Ship James Edward
Anonymous; British 20th century
A large format shadow box depicting the ship James Edward under full sail inbound passing other shipping in a channel. The ship is modeled in a half hull format with standing and running rigging. The model is mounted to a painted background which shows houses and a harbor with other ships painted in the background. The other ships in the foreground can be identified as the Cooper and the Jane, as well as a paddle steam tug. The scene is framed in a mahogany frame with ornamental corner pieces and a crested center top piece.
30½ x 40¼ x 7 in. (77.4 x 102.2 x 17.8 cm.) framed dimensions.
