An English delft blue and white bowl
Circa 1720, London or perhaps Bristol
The exterior painted with oval panels of pagodas in landscapes reserved on a mottled blue ground, above a border of lines and on a short foot, the interior with stylised scrolls (hairline cracks, flaking and some areas of overpainting to rim)
9 in. (23 cm.) diam.

For a bowl with closely similar decoration now at Colonial Williamsburg see John C. Austin, British Delft at Williamsburg (Williamsburg, 1994), p. 79, no. 39; that example was sold Sotheby's London, 8th January 1974, lot 11 and prior to that sold in these Rooms, 4th December 1967, lot 50.
