A French (hard paste) white biscuit porcelain circular Royal portrait medallion of Louis XV
Circa 1773-74, probably Sèvres, script inventory mark S.161. in black
In bust-length profile to the left, his long flowing hair crowned with laurels, wearing a sash and the badge of the Order d'Esprit over his breast-plate edged with fleur-de-lys, the truncation with the inscription :LOUIS:XV (very small dirt-filled firing cracks above the laurels, two small shallow rim chips at 10 and 11 o'clock), sold with a later circular gilt-metal frame with a ring for suspension
4 1/8 in. (10.5 cm.) diam.
