Lot Essay

See Barbara Beaucamp-Markowsky, Boîtes en Porcelaine, des Manufactures Européennes au 18e siècle (Fribourg, 1985), p. 298, no 246 for a box with similar moulding. The decoration of the interior of the cover is most probably after an engraving by J.E. Nilson.
