A PAIR OF MEISSEN MODELS OF SWANS
Circa 1750, blue crossed swords marks to reverse of bases
From a chariot group modelled by J.J. Kaendler, one modelled to the left, the other to the right, in aggressive pose with their wings raised and hissing, with red eyes and tongues and black beaks and webbed black feet, each wearing a gilt-edged pink harness about their wings and clasped by gilt scrolls and a gilt tassel and rings beneath their necks, on shaped bases with green water weeds (one with end of one wing a replacement, the other with restoration to two gilt harness rings, repaired chip to one wing and beak restuck)
