Made up of twelve chromolithographed gores and two polar calottes, the equatorial and Greenwich meridian graduated in degrees, the ecliptic not shown, the oceans showing ocean currents, submarine cables and various shipping routes, Antarctica with mostly projected coastline and showing the extent of winter pack ice, the Continents with nation states variously coloured and showing towns, cities, rivers, railway and telegraph lines and the Chinese Wall, with a stamped brass meridian half-cricle, the ebonised horizon with printed paper showing hours and minutes, days of the month and pictures for the houses of the Zodiac, raised on three baluster-turned fruitwood columns with ebonised bun feet, united by cross stretchers beneath the ebonised circular base plate and meridian support

Christie's charges a Buyer's premium calculated at 23.205% of the hammer price for each lot with a value up to €110,000. If the hammer price of a lot exceeds €110,000 then the premium for the lot is calculated at 23.205% of the first €110,000 plus 11.9% of any amount in excess of €110,000.
