Liao dynasty, 907-1125, thirty-two-character incised inscription dated to the ninth month, bingyin year of the Taiping period, corresponding to 1026
With shallow rounded sides rising from a flared foot ring to a slightly everted rim, the interior chased with a flowerhead formed by six leaf-bordered petals, each enclosing a different bird and all highlighted in gilding against a finely ring-punched ground, partially encircled by the raised characters of the inscription incised on the base, all below a narrow gilded band of overlapping petals at the rim, the exterior encircled by a chased and gilded frieze of leafy meander
