A GERMAN HUNTING SWORD
Third quarter of the 19th Century
With straight fullered double-edged blade with maker's stamp on one side of the forte, the hilt with tapering ivory grip of swelling oval section with an applied pierced and chased panel of hanging game on each side, white-metal quillons cast and chased on each side with a boar beset by hounds and with oak branches, and white-metal pommel-cap with a wolf-head and oak foliage in relief, in its original shagreen-covered scabbard with cast and chased white-metal mounts
