A COLLECTION OF MODELS AND ORNAMENTS,&C, OF MILITARY INTEREST
Late 19th/early 20th Century
A cast metal inkwell (lacking liner) in the form of a helmet of French fire brigades circa 1820 style, in simulated brass finish with dragon motif to the crest, mounted with small crowned Bourbon shield over crossed cannon, the upper part hinged; another inkwell, in the form of a pig's head with moustache as worn by Kaiser Wilhelm II and wearing a pickelhaube (liner missing); a miniature of the Color of the (French) 7th Regiment of Infanterie de ligne, 3rd Republic period, in the form of a silk tricoleur trimmed with fringe, bearing in gilt lettering the number in wreath at each corner, and inscribed REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE and 7e REGIMENT D'INFANTERIE, the motto HONNEUR ET PATRIE and battle-honors FLEURUS, BAUTZEN, ANVERS and SEBASTOPOL, on short wooden staff with gilt spear finial with letters RF (some tears to the Color); two lead soldiers (in poor condition) in a display-case, with an officer's cross of the Légion d'Honneur (2nd Empire); together with a letter-opener in the form of a U.S. Navy officer's sword; and a miniature schläger (German fencing-sword)
